About Two Kinds
A Little Background
TwoKindsOf is built by me, [https://nickhodges.com](Nick Hodges). I built all this as kind of an experiment. I’d long had the idea for the website, but knew that it would take a lot of time to do things the right way. I was still learning Astro when the notion of “Vibe Coding” hit. I decided to give it a try in late 2024. I got the basics of the site up and running in a few days—it was pretty cool. But Claude Code was still fairly new, and it would go off on tangents, try “experiments”, and generally not do what I wanted. So I shelved the project for a while.
Then, in late 2025, I picked it up again and discovered that Claude had improved dramatically. It was now much better at following instructions, and I could get it to help me build the site the way I wanted. So I dove back in, and over the next few weeks, I built out the site using Claude Code. In the end, Claude wrote all the code. All I did was tell it what I wanted, and Claude Code did the rest. I made almost zero code changes myself. Claude did it all.
I used the Astro platform (or rather, Claude Code did), and I used BetterAuth for authentication. I also used a variety of other tools and libraries to help me build the site. The end result is a fully functional website that allows users to browse, create, and share “sayings” about the two kinds of anything in the world.
How It Works
Our platform allows users to browse, create, and share “sayings” about the two kinds of anything in the world. Each saying follows a simple format: an introduction followed by two contrasting elements, approaches, or characteristics.
For example: “There are two kinds of people in the world: those who make their bed every morning, and those who see no point since they’ll just mess it up again tonight.”
Or: “There are two kinds of programming languages: those everyone complains about and those nobody uses.”
Or even: “There are two kinds of cats: those who knock things off tables while looking you directly in the eye, and those who wait until you leave the room.”
Users can browse sayings by category, like them to show appreciation, and even filter by popularity or recency.
How to Contribute
Contributing your own observation is easy:
- Create an account or sign in with your preferred method
- Navigate to the “Create” page
- Choose an introduction phrase (or create your own)
- Select a category for your saying
- Describe the two kinds you’ve observed
- Submit your creation to share it with the world
The best sayings are those that highlight interesting contrasts we all recognize but rarely discuss. They should be relatable, thoughtful, and ideally make people smile with recognition—whether they’re about people, animals, objects, or abstract concepts.
Join us in exploring these lighthearted divisions and maybe even contribute your own observation about the two kinds of anything in this world!
